Linking it all together
I just read Christopher S. Penn’s free eBook, Synchronizing Social Networks. If you’ve got a few minutes to spare, it’s a quick and easy read. In the book, Chris Penn, widely known for his Financial Aid Podcast and Marketing Over Coffee podcast, talks about the importance of backing up your contacts and gives you easy-to-follow steps to do it. This puts you back in control of your list of contacts should anything happen to the social networks.
What I found most useful was how he tied it into the business realm. This is incredibly useful for business owners who use any kind of CRM or distribute a company newsletter. You can utilize the email addresses from your database to see which of your clients are in the social media space. Not only will you be able to learn more about their habits, likes and dislikes, you will be able to communicate directly with them on a platform they are already choosing to be in.
If you’re not listening to the Marketing Over Coffeepodcast, I highly recommend it. Chris Penn and John Wall are full of marketing tactics and industry insite.
